Ashwagandha is one of my favorite herbal Ayurvedic adaptogens. In India, ashwagandha is known as the “strength of the stallion” since it has traditionally been used to strengthen the immune system after illness. However Stallone and the Jersey Boys have discovered it’s superhero health RENefits when it come’s to boosting testosterone; hence the new warning signs that have been posted down the shore:
As boyZ age, low testosterone levels may become problematic. According to a study in the Journal of the International Society of Sports Nutrition, 57 men between the ages of 18 and 50 were tested for their levels. They were divided into two groups where one group was given 300 mg of ashwagandha herbal extract 2x day for 8 weeks and the other group ingested a placebo. The entire time both groups practiced a supervised muscle training program.
The boyZ that took the herbal extract had much higher levels of circulating testosterone than the other group. The ashwaganda crew also showed an increase in chest and arm muscle mass resulting in an average arm muscle size of 8.6 centimeters compared to the other groups measly 5.3.
It was also founded that the A-Crew exhibited a faster reduction of creatine kinase, which is a marker for the type of muscle fiber injury sometimes occurring during strenuous exercise. I’m sure many naturally experienced feelings of stress relief as well.
Speaking of stress relief, testosterone plays a role when it comes to libido. A healthy sex life is one of the best natural stress relievers there is benefiting all humanoids no matter their gender makeup. That’s why I encourage all youZ guyZ and girlZ to look further into just how many uses there are for ashwaganda.
According to endocrinologist Glenn Braunstein, MD, chairman of the department of medicine at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles and a leading authority on the subject: “Testosterone generally takes a minimum of 8 weeks to kick in, and it requires continuous treatment. If you stop taking the hormone, the boost in your libido stops, too.”
I’d like to point out when adding a new regimen into your Holistic Lifestyle especially when applying a food substance to achieve a desired result, do not get discouraged. It may take a few weeks or months to show noticeable results or not be the right fit for your unique constitution, thereby yielding no results. Have no fear, since herbal and food protocols are generally safe and if your body doesn’t use them you end up peeing them out.
